PLEASE ALLOW ME TO TIE UP A FEW LOOSE ENDS . .

When I began writing this blog I promised myself that I would

 Better yet

I'm not so sure I've managed the first part (keep it simple)

or the second (to the point);

but I hope that I've succeeded at keeping it interesting.

My original intention was to casually write about the music I've enjoyed collecting and listening to for many years, and my first few posts are reflective of that.

Then one day I got this bright idea

I'm gonna write about the 1963 Dick Clark Caravan of Stars tour!

A friend (Greg Topper) had sent me the link to Myron Lee's  (Myron Lee & the Caddies) home movie from the 1963 tour several months before, and that combined with the fact that I'd read Dick Clark's book, Rock Roll & Remember, years ago in which he'd written extensively about the Caravan of Stars lead me to write about the '63 tour.

As I began writing I discovered something I'd never known; the tour had rolled into Dallas, Texas the morning of November 22, 1963 for a show that was scheduled that night at the Dallas Memorial Auditorium.

Suddenly, the plot thickened.

In high school I read the book, "They've Killed The President!"
which worked to further fuel my fascination for the Kennedy assassination and the lingering questions surrounding the murder.
Now, due to this startling revelation about the tour being in Dallas on the day the president was shot; what was meant to be a casual examination of the '63 Caravan of Stars tour expanded to include some surprising elements of the never ending mystery of JFK's assassination.

F O R   I N S T A N C E :

On the day of the assassination, Dick Clark and the stars of the tour checked into the Dallas Sheraton which was only a few blocks from where Kennedy would be shot.  I was surprised to learn who else was staying at the Sheraton on that day . .

George H. W. Bush

Interesting . .

There are those who believe this photo shows George H. W. Bush standing in front of the Texas School Book Depository in the moments following the assassination.

Former President Bush (41) has claimed that he wasn't a member of the CIA in 1963, but a memo from J. Edgar Hoover obtained through a Freedom of Information lawsuit appears to state otherwise:

A L R I G H T . .

Guess who else was in Dallas on November 22, 1963

Richard M. Nixon

Former vice-president Nixon was in Dallas attending a Pepsi-Cola meeting as representative of his law firm, Nixon, Mudge, Rose, et al which was Pepsi's legal counsel.
He had arrived two days earlier on the evening of the 20th with board of directors' member Joan Crawford on a Pepsi company plane (now there's a strange combo).

Now I don't know if all this means anything - probably just peculiar coincidence, but it was information I'd never been aware of before.

I never cease to be amazed at how much is available on YouTube

On the morning of November 22, 1963 a Channel 4 affiliate from Dallas was on hand at Love Field to cover the arrival of President & Mrs. Kennedy.

I encourage you to click on the link below and watch this (what was then) live coverage of history in the making.

TO WATCH "JFK ARRIVES IN DALLAS, TEXAS, ON NOVEMBER 22, 1963" (PART 1)

As I watched this broadcast some interesting details caught my attention:

1. It had been raining all morning and then suddenly it stopped; allowing the sun to break through.

2.  At around 4:45 minutes into the clip, the C-123 military transport plane that carried the presidential limousine is shown, and the commentator mentions the fact that the limo has been off-loaded and remarks that the famous 'bubble-top' had been removed.

Watching this - it dawned on me - it had been (and was thought likely to continue) raining that morning which meant that the 'bubble-top' would have been left on the limousine, but due to the sudden, unexpected change in weather the decision was made to remove the top at the last minute.

The question that came to my mind was; how would Oswald have known he could shoot the president in an open car if all prior indications were that it would be raining hence, the 'bubble-top' would be on the president's car?

Had he been surreptitiously alerted of the change as a player in a vast conspiracy that (some suggest) included almost everyone imaginable (CIA, FBI, LBJ, Bush, Nixon, 'the Texans,' Castro, the Soviets, the mafia, big oil, the military industrial complex, 'banksters,' gangsters, Cuban pranksters, et al)?

Perhaps even 'Mother Nature' had co-conspired with the others and agreed to stop the rain in order that this crime might take place.

But, one thing I did discover was this: something I (and many others) had always believed to be true - was, in fact, not.

KENNEDY'S LIMOUSINE

The 'bubble-top' for Kennedy's limousine was NOT bullet-proof!

It consisted of several removal pieces, and the so called 'bubble-top' was made of plexi-glass.  It had been designed to provide the public with greater visibility of the president, not for his protection.

So, although it has been suggested that the top may have made shooting the president more difficult (possible glare having been mentioned) ultimately, it could not have guaranteed his safety.

On a far less weighty note:
one aspect of this video that I truly enjoyed was the sight
of several 1963 era airliners, in particular -Boeing 707s (especially Braniff Airlines).

If you watch Part 2 of this video you will find at 4:28 minutes into it the commentator mentions Nixon being in Dallas.
TO WATCH "JFK ARRIVES IN DALLAS, TEXAS, ON NOVEMBER 22, 1963" (PART 2)

"NIXON TODAY ... JFK TOMORROW — Former Vice President Richard M. Nixon, left, found himself in Dallas on a 'quick business trip' Thursday on the eve of President Kennedy's visit to the city.  With Mr. Nixon is Don Kendall, president of Pepsi Cola Bottling Co.  Mr. Nixon's New York law partnership represents the soft drink company."

On a White House tape recorded in May of 1972 (discovered in 2002), then President Nixon confided to two top aides that the Warren Commission pulled off 'the greatest hoax that has ever been perpetuated.'

WALTER CRONKITE INTERVIEWS LBJ (1969)

Walter Cronkite interviewed LBJ in 1969, and at one point in the interview Cronkite asked Johnson if he was satisfied that there was no international conspiracy in JFK's assassination.
His answer may surprise you, as it apparently did Cronkite.  At Johnson's request this portion of the interview was not aired at the time in the interest of 'national security.'

MADELEINE DUNCAN BROWN (LBJ'S MISTRESS OF 21 YEARS)

The woman pictured above is Madeleine Duncan Brown.  She began an affair with Lyndon Johnson in 1948 that continued until 1969.

In a lengthy interview (link for interview is below) she shares some powerful revelations regarding the relationship between LBJ and JFK.

H. L. HUNT

At approximately 2:06 minutes in she discusses the 1960 election, and what she claims H.L. Hunt (at the time, one of the richest men in the world) told her is noteworthy.

At around 8:25 minutes into the interview she speaks of a party she attended at Clint Murchison's home on Thursday evening, November 21, 1963 (the night before the assassination of JFK).  She goes on to list some interesting names that were also in attendance: J. Edgar Hoover, Richard Nixon, LBJ, Earle Cabell (Mayor of Dallas), John J. McCloy, Jack Ruby, and more).
You have to hear (at 1:11:05 into the interview) what she says took place that evening between her & LBJ.

LBJ & GEORGIA SENATOR RICHARD RUSSELL

Another amazing piece of history posted on Youtube is a phone call from LBJ to Georgia Senator Richard Russell, made November 29, 1963; a mere seven days after the assassination of JFK.

LBJ is phoning Russell to let him know that he's already announced that he (Senator Russell) will be part of a special commission that will investigate the assassination of the late president (later to be known as the Warren Commission) - all this done without the consent of Russell.
During this call Johnson displays his infamous 'arm twisting' technique as Russell pleads that he can't work with Chief Justice Earl Warren (he doesn't like the man), and that he simply doesn't have the time.

LBJ & GEORGIA SENATOR RICHARD RUSSELL

Johnson refuses to take 'no' for an answer and alternates between flattery, appeals to Russell's patriotism, veiled threats to arrest Russell and 'put the FBI on him,' and downright insistence.
At 8:12 into the call, as Russell claims he doesn't have the time - Johnson makes a statement that I found to be surprising

"We'll just make the time, there's not
going to be any time to begin with;
all you're gonna do is evaluate a
Hoover report he's already made."

J. EDGAR HOOVER & LBJ

Could that really be true?

Just seven days after the assassination of JFK, Hoover's already made his report, and LBJ is putting together (what will come to be known as the Warren Commission) a hand-picked group of men to 'evaluate' that report.

It was only a year ago that this recording was released to the public.  It is a phone call made from Air Force One on the day of the assassination.
The newly sworn in president, Lyndon Johnson; calls the slain president's mother, Rose Kennedy, to give his condolences as he flies back to Washington D.C. from Dallas.

I know you may be a little confused by all of this.

You might ask,
'What the heck does this have to do with oldies music?'

Well, what I'm getting at is this: after all this research into the Kennedy assassination, I've discovered THE TRUTH!

I KNOW WHO KILLED KENNEDY!!

Not really.  It was actually quite simple.

I came to discover the truth by asking this question:

"Who ultimately benefited the most by the president being assassinated?"

L B J ?

J. EDGAR HOOVER?

CASTRO?

THE SOVIETS?

THE C.I.A.?

BIG OIL?

NIXON?

NO, NO, NO . . IT WAS NONE OF THESE

THE INDIVIDUALS THAT BENEFITED THE MOST BY THE PRESIDENT'S MURDER WERE:

T H E   B E A T L E S  !

As I've written in previous posts; The Beatles couldn't
'get arrested' in the U.S. before JFK was assassinated; then a mere 77 days after he's shot they arrive in New York to become the greatest musical phenomena in history!

SO, THERE YOU HAVE IT!

THE BEATLES KILLED KENNEDY!
